Would a motor that was on fire scare you to purchase

Im looking at my next work truck Have a good deal lined up on a 2500 hd 6.0 gas , with a motor noise. I have a smoking deal lined up on a used motor with 48,000 miles, but had a motor fire.
Looks like it had a fuel rail leak, or something on top. Plastic intake is melted, and most of the plastic on top of the motor, but does not look like it got very hot anywhere below the top of the head.
Im thinking stealing all the periphials off my motor, pull the pan, clean out any debris inisde, seal it all up, and I'll be off to the races . Worst case, and I doubt it would be valve stem seals.
I had a car burn up when I was a kid, and it got HOT, it melted the Holley into a puddle on the intake. I saved the motor, replaced the valve cover gaskets, distributor, and holley, and it ran 100%, never leaked a drop after
It is about a 1/4 of the cost for a motor with comparable mileage.
I think I'm going to roll the dice, and take my chances , what do you think?
LS motors are darn near indestructible, and they are like lawn tractors to work on .
