Done right there is almost zero clutch wear (other then the movement of release mechanisms .
Trouble is -most people have no clue anymore how to dwn shift. (double clutch )
They do not come off the farm or have not ever drove a big trk.
As you go through neutral is best to lift the clutch slightly to engage main shaft as you rev engine to match next lower gear.
Done right with practice its is a fluid action .
There is no jerking of drive train or shock value to it.
If you are really good you use no clutch action at all .(dont try this unless you have a good idea of moving parts and noises.)
It is much more EZ with larger gears and transmissions, the smaller the more difficult.(to use no clutch action )
