For anyone who comes across this thread, I went ahead and put Carrera 10Jx18 rear wheels on my 2002 Boxster S using 18mm spacers and haven't had any problems after a few months. I used the same 265/35 ZR18 tires for both the old and new wheels.
Old configuration:
993.362.138.01 9Jx18 ET52 265/35 ZR18
New configuration with 18mm spacers:
993.362.140.04 10Jx18 ET65 265/35 ZR18
