I got my trunk light working over the weekend. And I noticed some strange smoke, and a burning smell when it was on. Whoops.

Guess I should have left it dark...

Interestingly, none of my lights go on when a door or trunk is open. Only when switched manually. Yet, the driver's door switch works, because the chime will sound when the door is open.

I hope to tap in to the door switch to install my own run for LED strip lights for the footwells. Has anyone done this?

Gonçalo, have you tried to defeat the door switch to see if it is interfering with window operation when open? Perhaps a bad door position switch is grounding out the window lift circuit?
