Lost Pepper in March to a pair of nest building red-tails in a new spot...telemetry only lasted 90 min w/ new batteries...GRRRRR!!!!
Trapped Tater as a sore hawk (sore=able to fly, but still learning to hunt from parents) in June...he gains confidence and progresses with each day. Waterproof UHF telemetry on him so I feel confident about not losing him. He's getting stronger and faster in his flying...he took a bagged pheasant out of the air yesterday!!! That was awesome! The Avian Flu Epidemic is really doing a number on the long wingers (people who fly falcons as opposed to hawks). Some are sitting on the sidelines, others are switching to micros or dirt hawks! THEN we have West Nile Virus to worry about while the hawk is in his mews!

I gave up 6 bonus points to pull this tag. I'll be in 6B...between Flagstaff and Sedona, east of "The Strip" and Mogollon Rim. For the Coues hunt, I just picked up a Zeiss 6x24 scope to put on top of my .25-06. Typical shots out there are 500 yds. That one only took 1 bonus point. Also dropped $800 on a new tripod for my binos. Don't get me started on my Sitka camo wardrobe!
