Lived in the UK for a while, and found this sort of thing an everyday occurrence. Friends staying in London (where there is mostly on-street parking only), would deliberately drive really old crappy cars as anything newish/shiny runs the risk of being stolen for a joyride (and ultimately torched) or just damaged by petty idiots like this. Keying is actually the least of what I got to see there - someone slashed the soft-top on a car of someone I knew and then proceeded to urinate into the car...
