Pedal Cluster revisited
i received my new brass cup that crews onto my accelerator rod behind the pedal from PP yesterday...
I went out to attach it to the accelerator guide lever and no-go... it still pops off after I use the pedal to depress the lever..
so, sadly I decided I needed to take off the cluster and rebuild it or buy a new/rebuilt one.
I read the Tech Article and prepared myself thouroughly (or so I thought - why can't anything be easy?).
I blasted the old nuts/bolts topside and underneath with PB and waited awhile... I went in to detach the clutch cable and noticed mine was not like the cable in the article - it doesn't simply pop off like the accelerator cable.
It seems like it is screwed in and has a clasp that is hinged that clips onto the cable.
I did an archive search and it seems my cluster is an old 911 cluster where I have to punch out the rod that holds the clutch cable lever.. but, I can't seem to get in there to do it. no room at all.. plus, I have to depress the clutch to even get a good look at the rod I need to punch out. aack!
And, if I manage to remove the clutch cable, how in the world am I supposed to get it back on when installing.
any suggestions?
thanks,
rob.
