I surely hope you are not as old and stiff as I am since being young and limber is a big help here. I do mine similar to the articles and several things I have found: User several nice large pillows in the driver's door/seat to lay on to take the load off your back. Next, remove the accel pedal and floor board and then vac/clean the area well. Use a good trouble light and you can see in the opening on the left side of the tunnel with a mirror and see the clutch cable clevis. It helps if you loosen/remove the cable at the tranny so the pedal flops forward and then you can get the clevis off. To do any work on the cluster it is best to remove it, two nuts inside and two under the car at the m/c and it will come out and then it is much easier to work on. There is also a small opening at the top-front of the tunnel you can open too to get a hand inside. Good luck.
