thanks guys... it worked.

I detached the clutch cable from the tranny and it gave me a ton of slack - which turned out to be the key.

Then, I went in with my brand-spankin new can of PB 'a-blazin' to the master cylinder nuts and the pedal cluster... after a few minutes of letting the PB work in, I was able to remove the lower 2 nuts. that wasn't easy to say the least - i could have used a BF cheater bar but didn't have one - had to use good ol'elbow grease to get it done.

The clutch cable clevis pin actually came out very easily - I pushed pushed it out with a small screw driver - I didn't realize that the forked clasp was part of the pin at first. I thought it was attached to the cluster.

Now, for the rebuild - I don't have a vise to push out the clutch pedal pin, so I will have to take that somewhere to get it down.

Anyway.. thanks for all the help - it was much easier to actually do than I thought when I first looked at the problem.
