If safety is any concern the older seats just aren't safe compared to an modern seat. The period correct seats look awesome but they can't be made to absorb heavy impacts in multiple directions.
The Evo II is head and shoulders above the GTS Classics "ST" in safety but it still is sub par for what you are paying for. It is fiberglass and that is a very poor substitute for kevlar. If you are going to use a modern style full shell style seat demand kevlar. It will take repeated hits and not tear apart. For the price of the Sparco you can get a choice of Cobra seats and they don't import anything but kevlar or carbon fiber.
For me personally I use a Cobra Suzuka in the GT width. I can do 3+ hour stint without hurting my back. (Which is saying something!)
