Go to lows and buy a spray can of plastidip

You can get clear, or you can get colours.

You can take it off with a power washer if you get really aggressive, otherwise it holds up fine.

My truck wheels were bad so I just scraped off the big flakes, and then hosed them down with black plastidip. I didn't even mask the tire. I just rubbed it off the tire after it dried.

A year later another flake of the original finish pealed, so I just re sprayed the wheel and the plastidip blended back in.

For our newer car, I spray the wheels clear plastidip for winter and remove it in the spring.
