Mrs. WD and I run our businesses together and it’s been an overwhelming year. Too many opportunities that were to good to resist plus the growing pains that accompany an expanding business have worn us out. We have taken exactly one day off since last September and Mrs WD had had enough. She declared we were going to get away. She wanted to go back to the mountains of Tennessee where she grew up, and get, “as far up into the mountains as we can get and still have a hot tub.” She found us the perfect place. It was high enough up that they told us we needed four wheel drive to get to it if the weather was at all inclement. Perfect. So we packed six days worth of food and booze into the Tundra and ran for the hills.
Our cabin overlooked a valley where the clouds poured through the passes like white lava.
I can only imagine what Mrs WD thought as she stared out over her beloved hills.
The view from the cabin porch was spectacular.
The sky was clear and clean and one morning there were no clouds. We could clearly see the alignment of the planets Jupiter, Venus, and Mars. They were incredibly bright.
Now and then we took time out from enjoying the view for cigars and martinis. I wonder if the hot tub has a gin filter, 'cause there was some spillage.
