I'm sure Marc will post with his greater than 250k miles update. Pedro races the heck out of his around 200k miles.

The problem with a block that has already suffered deterioration and is exhibiting ferrous particles is the very fine particles distribute through the oil, get stuck in small oil passages and eventually affect all wear surfaces including main and rod bearings and IMS. It takes an expert to remove the engine and flush the block successfully, not an oil change flush. The best rebuilders won't reuse the block because they know even their chances of success are so low. They replace with a clean block because their reputation is on the line.
