Good morning to all from KwaZulu, South Africa. I have a 1988 Porsche 928 s4 which I have substantially refurbished.
She was running beautifully until just before Xmas. One morning ,after starting, was running very rough and lean. Fumes burn your eyes!
Also, she's not enjoyable to drive at all. Nothing happens when accelerating and then suddenly catches and surges forward!
Alarming in a built up driveway!
Local mechanic sprayed aerosol in the vicinity of the fuel rail and inlet manifold on the drivers side of the engine. Seemed to improve the idling temporarily.
He says he thinks it's worn injector seals or inlet manifold seal.
Is that like likely?
Also another mechanic ,who worked on the car, says he thinks it could be a cracked or loose vacuum pipe or pipes.
Only way to drive her to repair is to pulse the accelerator to move her forward in short distances. Not too bad once we're on the highway. Worried I may be doing damage.
Any advice please?
