I have single door bars in my NARP 944. The front is welded low enough to permit easy entry/exit, while the rear is located quite a bit higher, to provide adequate protection. With the lower position of the race seats, the bar runs above my hips, and a bit below my knees.
It's also nice that the front hoop runs through the dash instead of blocking the front several inches of the door opening. The car is no more difficult to get in than before the cage was installed.
