Droning at 3000 rpm (qualifies as north of 2500) can be right in the middle of cruising speeds (YGMV - your gearing may vary).
Not sure resonance (irritating to some) is merely caused by an increase in dB level (not as irritating). Perhaps a positive correlation coefficient.
According to internet lore:
What is the resonant frequency?
"In physics, resonance is a phenomenon that consists of a given system being driven by another vibrating system or by external forces to oscillate with greater amplitude at some preferential frequencies."

Which begs the question:
How does one reduce vibration resonance? How's your math?
How can I avoid resonance?
