hey - i'm thinking both issues are the same - have you looked into the distributor and checked the mechanical advance weights - these advance the timing according to engine speed and i'm thinking maybe yours are stuck or the springs are broken? - you can check the diaphragm by physically turning the rotor and holding your finger over it's vacuum connection - if it holds the diaphragm is good - i've been following your posts on the great white - good luck
