pressure test engine
I was out driving today, and noticed a vacuum leak... no pressure on the tell tale gauge, so I hooked up the compressor and pressurized the engine, and found leaks at the turbo flange/gasket, slip joint, and throttle body. I think most of the loss of pressure must be from the turbo gasket. Hard to believe that these 3 leaks would leak all of the positive pressure... Another thing that I didn't realize was that I had to test through exhaust end, and intake end. Must be the turbo that wouldn't let the pressure through. Philip

A small amount of leakage in the exhaust is not a problem - the exhaust side operates under very small pressure (not 1 bar). The small leakage at slip joints is a small %age of exhaust gas that is not driving the turbo.
You can do it all thru the intake side. Remember, you may have some valves on overlap somewhere, unless you bring the engine rotation to just before a TDC mark (about 15 deg). At TDC you are 1-2mm open on inlet (and exhaust)somewhere. Alan

Those slip joints should seal up with heat. Not sure what headers you have. (Rarlyl8 ?) One of the things I like about the B&B headers is the double slip joint. Smart use of the fuel filter

That throttle body o-ring looks like it's pushed out. Shouldn't be visible.

Looks like a O ring, but its a silicon 135* bend on the throttle body to intercooler, with a T bolt clamp holding it on...
