stock turbo muffler
How restrictive is a stock 930 muffler?
Compiling parts for engine rebuild with turbo upgrade to a stock 3.2. I read somewhere the stock 930 muffler was very restrictive. There's one for sale here. Any advice always appreciated. Thanks, Chris 89 G50 Carrera |

Well they weight a ridiculous amount for one. Im sure that has a lot to do with the extensive baffling inside. I’m sure any aftermarket pipe is much less restrictive.

Our 930 Performance muffler adds 12hp to the wheels and weighs 12 pounds.
Dyno test using a stock Euro 930 muffler vs a Zork tube on a stock 300hp Euro engine showed about a 13hp increase, but the standard deviation was not significant when compared to our muffler. The difference becomes significant at higher base horsepower levels. The gains from a free flowing muffler you don't see on paper are the increased throttle response, turbo lag reduction and of course the sound. Our mufflers are straight through 3"ID, baffled mufflers will not perform as well. ![]()
