Turbo S engine case 930/66S
Hi guys, I bought this case 7+ years ago for a 964T project that I no longer have. I was going to build it but at this point I am not sure I want I want to do with such a rare case. What can you experts tell me about it? Can anyone tell me how many 87 Turbo S cars were made? Also I have been looking at S cars and it seems like the sequence of the serial numbers on these S cases do not restart every year. I found an mid eighties car with serial 2XX and the slight later that was a 4xx serial number and this 87 is a 6XX number. Not sure though since there is very little info like that that I can find. This is the only S case ive seen so trying to figure out exactly what I have has been a bit difficult.

A lot of looks but no comments...lol. Am I correct that this is pretty much the same case as the m30/69? I do realize the M30/69 case has a 964 casting number but the case itself is the same, no? They only switched to full cylinder support on the M64/50 when they switched to the std 964 case correct?
Thanks for any help.

Looks just like a late model 911/930 up until 1989, nothing to do with a 964 case as far as I can see.

The M30/69 doesnt use the 964 fully supported cylinders like the M64/50 case. The M64/50 case is a 964 case where the M30/64 is a 930 case with 964 casting numbers. Here is a pic of a m30/64 case. It doesnt have all the webbing around the cylinders like a m64/50 or M64/01.

Case through bolts are recessed in above picture, just like 964, therefore different from 911/930 cases.

lol. so they machined it differently and used different crossbolts. Still same case. slightly different machining process to used newer crossbolts.

Fact is, if you put the "S" case next to any other '87 930 case, the only difference you will find is the "S" machined/stamped into the case, lol.

Absolutely, just like a 930 shell is the same as a 930SE except the VIN stamping but the price would be a bit different.
