LSD How to Determine?

I will be ordering a COA for my 79 930 but is there any other way to determine if my car has LSD? Mine appears to have come fully optioned with sunroof, passenger side mirror and factory sport seats. Would that suggest that it came with LSD as well?

Jack the rear of the car up, and rest it on jack stands. Release the parking brake and put it in neutral. Then spin one of the rear tires you hand. If the tire your not spinning goes in the same direction as the one your spinning by hand you have lsd. If the opposing wheel goes backwards when you spin the wheel forward. You don’t have lsd.

You can also look at the bottom of your transmission. The lowest point of the transmission about in the middle there is a large block of aluminum in the casting. The transmission number is there if not scraped off by contact with the road while driving. If you have a limited slip transmission the number will be something like:

XXXX12XXX or XXX/12/XXX

The number 12 in the middle indicates Limited Slip differential.

Is the option sticker in the frunk? If it's a factory LSD it should be on the sticker.

Thank you, excellent input. I will check under gearbox first. My trunk lid does not have a sticker, original paint but must have fallen off or removed.

What year is your car? Earlier 930s don't have the under-frunk sticker (my 79 doesn't).

Mine was built 09/78, #9309800107. That is interesting, I was worried it was missing.
