WUR needed - any ideas?

Hello,

I have a 1991 3.3 964 Turbo, and I am based in the UK. My WUR needs to be refurbished. I had my fuel head done by KMI and they have said they can do it, but it's a 6 week waitlist and they need the part sat on their bench for 6 weeks (bonkers, but true). They don't let you book a slot and send it to them in 5 weeks time.

I was wondering if anybody knows of anyone else in the UK or Europe who either offers to refurbish the units or sells them on an exchange basis?

Thank you.

Contact Brian Leask. I am not sure if he is still doing WUR, however.

Don't know anyone on your side of the pond, but I'd think rarelyl8 could get it turned around and back to you in a timely fashion

brian leask or flow control (flow tech) cant ever remember.
they are both over here though.

you may just try KMI. they say 6 weeks but it may be shorter.
when flow control did my FD they gave me a long lead time but it was about half of what they said.

The long lead times are due to the few certified Bosch fuel system rebuilders that are left. Several non-certified shops went out of business during or shortly after the recession when counterfeit rebuild parts appeared on the internet and they began having problems. Fast forward and now the few certified shops that are left are over whelmed. Larry recently moved his shop to a larger location. He does batch runs so lead time depends on where your type of FD or WUR sit in the rotation. I've worked with both Larry and BL for a lot of years now and keep the most popular part numbers in stock, ready for exchange. I do a fair amount of business in Europe and other places around the world. Lead time is transit time if I have the item in stock.

Thank you for the comments and help. Brian has also been helpful on email.

I wondered if anyone knows whether my car would need a modified wur because it has a different turbo (k29 hybrid) and C2 cams. My mechanic wasn’t sure if the standard spec for the 964T wur would be okay or not.

The only way to know for certain is to measure your AFR at redline full boost.
Typically the OEM system will handle performance upgrades to around 325WHP or so. With the K27/K29 and cams you might be close to that, with headers you would be over the limit.
