Twin plug valve covers

So, I知 finally getting close to finishing up my motor. I知 going with twin plugged large port SC heads and I need to drill out my lower valve covers.
Can any of you guys provide me with a paper template ? Or I can work off of measurements as long as there accurate.
Cheers, Paul

If you just look in the used parts section usually you can find a set of aluminum 964 lower valve covers and you don't have to drill anything

Perfect. That sir, is exactly what I needed. I didn’t realize the CL of those two holes lines up with the interior casting webs. Any chance you can enlighten me on the partial hole ? Seams like about 3/4 of the hole is drilled ?

Actually, after a closer look, it seams only the center hole is lined up with the CL of the casting ridge
I’m sure I can get close enough on the fist hole. I just need to suss out the partial hole.

I love document my prosess in the event that anyone gives two sharts. But, be warned, I’m a nail bender. There will be wood involved.

A little google foo turned up an old post that Craig Cgarr replied to. Apparently its 4.64 or about
4-5/8” from the edge of the half hole to the CL of the middle hole. He said it works to go off of the center of the top ridge but he likes to grow about 1/16” lower. I’ll post my results. Good, bad or butchered beyond use.

To clarify it’s 4.64 CL of hole to CL of hole.

The 964 valve covers work but do have their own challenges. If I recall correctly you have to either replace all the studs on your cam towers or you have to drill out each hole on the 964 valve cover. I bought a set a few years ago and found that it was more work than I anticipated.

Put your COPS or wires on your plugs and take some measurements on your heads. Or a piece of small diameter metal tubing tapped for the plug cap thread would be better to get accurate measurements for the CL of the holes.
