Ruf Speedline 17x9, 17x10 Tire Sizes - Motivate Me

Help me get motivated to pull the trigger on tires for the Ruf Speedlines languishing in my garage. What are you folks running on a 9 and 10 wide wheel?

Some preliminary research has me looking at:
Fr - 235/45/17
Rr - 265/40/17

This is a street car, relatively stock. The top candidate are Bridgestone RE760 Sports but I would love to hear other opinions.

With the RUF speedlines that I had on, I was running the 21mm spacer on the rear.
I am mounting some sick new 3 piece Fuchs today with 315 35 17 rear and 235 40 17 front with the Nitto's good price on these as well.

Thanks Bully.

I have been talking to Rey (Speednme) as well who is running the 265/40s with a 15mm spacer. I am curious if it is possible to run a smaller spacer and go to 275/40 (which is a much more available size) and get a bit more meat out back and remove some of the stretched look.

Anyone else have any thoughts? Credit card is smoking hot in my pocket right now.

Ive got to get rid of this goofy ride height and wheel setup (yes, I am the only person on the planet who isnt thrilled by the look of the old BBS RSs).

Our sponsor has an assortment of spacers on the site.
The biggest problem I had with the 17" was wheel height. 285 45 is a lot higher than the 16's
That is another reason that I went to an 11" wheel on the back, so I could go to 315 35 and restore original ride height.

I'm running 235's and 275's on 8.5" and 11" rims. I like these sizes a lot for the 930.

I have 275/40 & 235/45 toyo R888. I had to remove spacers rear.
(RUF documents say 15mm or 7mm spacer and 255 & 265/40 tires.)

Thanks Stein, that looks like a ton of rubber out back. Im surprised of the diff between those and the 265s of Rey's car.

For me, I have 2 inch spacers on my front wheels and on my rear wheels are 3/4 inch press-fit spacers, which I think are an OEM feature, but I'm not entirely sure about that.

The photo of my car here, BTW was taken back when it had Falken Ziex's of the same sizes. They wore down so I replaced all four tires with the Nitto's.

Awesome, thank you Jason.

Guess I will make the decision on Monday. Some other Ruf wheel info in case anyone runs across this thread (read as - you guys probably knew this, i did not)

Outside of some early offsets and manufactures there are some visual difference in the Ruf wheel setup.

Gen1 - Offered in 8s, 9s and 10s. Stepped lips on both 9s and 10s. Made by Speedline for Ruf (speedline stamped into the wheel face. I dont believe these were offered in a Denloc config.

Gen2 - No change in widths. Made by Avus without steps in the lips. Denloc setup offered.

Gen3 - Not sure who made these, likely OZ (Ruf does not manufacture wheels, there are really only a handful of actual wheel manufactures). No steps in the lip, Denloc offered. Rumor is these are slightly lighter than the Gen 1 and 2 wheels.

And if you are unsure if a wheel is a 8 or 9 width the 8s have a notch in the face for the valve stem.

Great info on the variations in Ruf wheels, thanks for posting. All look great, a timeless design IMO.

IMO 275/40 on the back, that's as tall as I would go (25.7" vs. 25" stock). Make it too tall, it's like installing a taller R&P and you slow acceleration
245/45 is a near perfect match in size, and if you want a little less contact patch up front then a 235/45 (25.3")

But think how easy burnouts would be.
