Finally pulled the trigger...shes up for sale!

Hey all,

Can't wait any longer so the 930 is on the chopping block, here on Pelican first, so check it out, and tell me if my ad is any good!

So far 2 bikes are sold, 2 cars are sold, and 1/2 my firearms are gone.

The Mustang goes into Hemmings, just as soon as I get a short driving video to post.

All this selling is to say the least, feeling weird, but choices have been made, so onward and upwards I go.

Mark

Mark, congrats on retirement. I would list the car with Bring a Trailer - it would do well there. It's a fairly simple process and its a sellers market there.

Hey there Patrick,

I've thought about that, but right now there is some unhappiness with 930 sellers from BAT.

Apparently, they are presently being a real pain when it comes to setting a minimum price, and cars are selling below market value, at damn near wholesale prices.

I'm not in that big of a hurry, so don't need to just unload it for chump change!

I do not think you would have an issue getting a reserve very close to your asking price. I'd highly recommend a professional set of photos and a short driving video. Your car would do very well there given the modifications. I've sold 15 cars on BaT at this point, feel free to PM me with any questions or tips should you decide to go down that route.

I agree with Patrick, you should have no problem listing it on BAT with your asking price. If you do, remove the ad from Pelican.

One ignorant commenter can sink a sale on BAT.

Hemmings to start an auction soon.

Tell us about the Mustang.

Hey there M5guy,

The Mustang is a '66 fastback 289 4spd custom, built as an old school road race car. The car was built and put in the Seattle car show in 1988, just for ****s-n-grins, didn't even bother having it judged, just didn't care about that stuff, then or now.

Tons of old school suspension mods and then some bodywork mods just for the heck of it.

Carves corners real nice, top speed limited by gearing, real fun in the twisty's.

Sad to see one less Mark residing in the PNW and will miss your input here on Pelican. Retirement is a good thing. The tough part is going through the inevitable catharsis. Too bad Thailand isn't the best of locations for 930's - or 'Stangs for that matter.

The top two photos look very different in color from the bottom two photos.

ed317,
The ad is in the "cars for sale" section.

JMS935,
1st photos outside with real camera, last 2 photos inside under fluorescent light and flash and cell phone camera.

Mark,
I'll still be around for a bit longer, will need to sell the 944Turbo too, but that will be later. And contrary to popular belief, the roads in Thailand are excellent and the twisty mountain roads are a real hoot to drive. It's the extreme importation fees/taxes/payoffs that kill the mood. Plus running around in a Porsche kinda puts a target on your back, not what I'm looking for out of retirement.

Hey Mark, sad you see you ending your Porsche hobby. I guess we all contemplate this coming along some day. Best of luck in retirement and future plans for Thailand!

Yeh the Porsche game will end....but not the car thing. I've owned 44 cars to date, so that itch will still need to be scratched.
Thailand has a fair number of older Alfa's, Skylines, 510 IRS's, Renault R5's, and so on and so on.
I'll find a toy for sure, just a different flavor.

Thaliand is on my short list too, after a few years of sailing.

Is it possible to get around the duties by importing "parts"?

Nice. Price?

My old race car. Which I saw on BAT not so long ago.

Brian,
I love the country, the heat, the food, the jungle and the overall attitude...plus my wife is Thai, kinda helps with translation and such ;}.

M5guy,
Would really like to get $25K out of it. If you want more info & more photos, just PM me with your email address and I'll shoot you over the works. I already have an ad written up and loads of pictures.
