Thoughts or advice on turbo
Hiya,
I have a '84 ROW 930 with some of Brian Bodart's finest parts on it. Headers, TiaL wastegate, street muffler, and (I believe) the 7200 turbo. I started to notice smoke regularly on startups. I've had the valve guides recently redone - so I suspected the turbo. And... It's the turbo. So off it comes to be sent out to be rebuilt. But, Before I do that, what say the forum: rebuild or go to a different/better turbo? Those are the only mods on the engine and it's strictly a road car. Can I do better with a different turbo? Also using the downtime opportunity to swap out the factory shift assembly and (possibly) upgrade to a WEVO. What does the forum think? |

Just rebuild that 7200. Send it to evergreen turbo in FL. I've had mine done there as well as others. You will not be disappointed. Yes you can do a better turbo.. but probably not worth the money. You can get upgraded turbines within the turbo as well if you desire for faster spool ext.. The turbo will come back looking factory fresh :]

If your going to the trouble and expense of a rebuild have Charlie add his latest power mod. He's done a few for me and wow do they wake up the K27-7200! Threshold stays the same but it pulls harder and longer. Worth the money IMO.

I agree. If rebuilding add some upgrades. And also look at the price of new borg Warner turbos or something like that before spending on the rebuild, maybe worth it to just replace. Keep the original tho
