1978 930. Changing from exhaust recirculation to non recirculation

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience in changing from a gas recirculation system to a non recirculation? If so, looking for some guidance on what I can eliminate(egr ?) or will Need to customize (wastegate, oil lines/tank?). I have Dansk Stainless steel heat exchangers and a schnell muffler but will need to get crossover pipes..etc.
thank you !

Are you replacing this USA system with a Euro system?
The only mod needed if going Euro is to change out the oil lines. You need to plug off all the holes left from eliminating all this "stuff". Horrific system, great to get rid of it.
If going for performance our headers will bolt right up to the current configuration, no changes needed. The OEM oil tank, lines and waste gate all are retained. Just need to plug the air injection ports in the heads and remove the air injection belt.

The system pictured is factory correct for a USA 1978 930.

He's wanting to eliminate the poor performing USA exhaust system but retain factory style looking appearance by installing the factory Euro system. The Dansk heat exchangers are the Euro type that combine with the Euro J-pipe. The only mod needed to install that system is the later oil line set and re-routing the waste gate lines and exit plumbing. The engine will run cooler and you pick up most of that extra 35hp that the Euro engine had over the USA version in 1978. One thing I would do given this path is use the Carrera heat exchangers. They are slightly larger ID than the 930 version and give an extra bump in power plus a slight decrease in turbo lag.

If you're selling the car, go ahead and do whatever, but why put all that crap back on (even the Euro setup is crap)? Is this for an emissions visual test?

Thanks for the feedback. Would you have a number for the Carrera heat exchangers? Would these use the same hook up parts as the 930 dansk heat exchanger?

Mocker, can you share with me your set up and anything you would change? Thank you.

Terry, I'd throw all that rusty old stuff in a box for the next guy (people are crazy for original, no matter how much it sucks!).

Then, plug the holes from the removed air injection system, and put on a modern set of headers and muffler. BBE or Rarly L8 are the most popular (and proven) options. You can re-use the wastgate or get a Tial (upgrade).

These simple bolt-on upgrades will gain you 40-50 HP over the US headers/exhaust. Add a modern upgraded turbo and you can get even more.

This is what I've done for my car (plus a bigger intercooler and modified intake/recirc/BOV).
