Thoughts? Could be $400,000+ restored to a high level.

With the rarity of this vintage porsche there is no founded reason not to restore it back to as new.

274 total production there are many differences in these preproduction 75 930s vs the later 1976 930s.

It’s way overpriced as is. Are you kidding about buying to restore it? I can’t imagine anyone paying that kind of money to BHCC for a 930 with their reputation for selling total junk. Yes it’s vintage, too vintage in my opinion. I know many collectors love this year, but not me, I’d much rather have a later model 3.3 turbo. You could buy much better 930s for far less money.

Road scholars sold a restored salmon 1975 930 for $395,000.

There is a oak green preproduction 1975 930 I know of that is said to have had offers over $400,000 turned down. It is however 1 of 10 preproduction 930s.

And how much did that Road Scholars restoration cost? Their restorations are on another level from most, you’d have to inherit that BHCC ‘75 turd for free to be in the money on it post restoration cost with Road Scholars. Whoever bought that 395k car probably paid very little for the car itself, as the restoration performed on the car is well into the 6 figures alone.
And you can’t compare an oak green prototype 930 to a guards red production 930, not even close. There are far better buys in a 1975 turbo than the BHCC car, in fact, I’d say most 1975s are probably a better buy than that one.

That is probably the best car they’ve ever had roll through their showroom... what do they say about the blind squirrel finding a nut???

BTW, my telltale creeps from time to time, It drags on the boost needle and read over 1 bar periodically, internal springs just need to be tightened.

That car was not restored by Road Scholars. That car was restored by Dawe’s Motorsport. The color is stunning in person. It was right hand drive. The initial price before the restoration wasn’t cheap but it was cheaper than the red car at bhcc.

Take a good look at the photos. The rear wheels (15x8) are mounted on the left side and the front wheels (15x7) are mounted on the right side. Seriously bhcc..can’t see that..lol

You’re assuming that they end up making money on the car, it’s been on the market a while. I can’t imagine any major collector feeling comfortable buying a car like that at a shop like that. Those buyers just don’t shop there, they would rather pay more money for the same car at a reputable auction house. I bet they will own that car for a very long time. Because let’s face it, whoever buys that car is doing it to park for an investment, not for its performance. You could buy a few better performing 930s for the same asking price of this ‘75 930.

Not to mention, it's missing a bunch of stuff off the engine (at a minimum, the air injection is gone, and headers/muffler have been changed). Anyone buying a '75 will want all that stuff and it's all extremely expensive if you want the correct early parts.

what do I know???? several years ago I bought a 75 930 cheap! once I got it home I realized that it had lots of rust cleverly disguised. I sold the motor to a member on this forum at that time. I robbed the suspension for another project. and, the 930 transaxle is now in my 71 911. I gave the body and title away to a guy to haul it off. I believe that it was later brought back to life....not sure. the car was ivory pearl?? and I bought it at a car lot in charlotte nc….the rollback guy had to drag it up on his carrier and away it went! this was probably in 2002-2003!

And yet at the time, it was probably the wise decision to be making with all of the rust it had. Who knew that if you had just abandoned it in your garage (read: barn), it would’ve been a good investment.

I regret not purchasing a 924 cerrera back in the mid to late 90s. I always thought as far as “affordable rare porsches” go those were a no brainer to gain serious value over the coming years.

I believe at one time even the ligament racing versions were not out of the average well heeled porsche enthusiast reach. We are talking circa 1990s..

You gotta see it with the full special wishes flesh colored interior. Add your alcantara flesh toned custom shift knob and it would be right up your alley. A really dark alley.
