Correct radio bracket for my '76 Turbo Carrera Blaupunkt Bamberg

So, after months of searching, I finally found a correct U.S. Bamberg for my '76 Turbo (including the microphone).

In the photos I've seen, the preset unit is mounted under the ashtray. But while I have the unit itself, what I don't have is the bracket.

Can anyone help? Obviously, I'd love to buy the correct bracket but I'm assuming that's not likely. As an alternative, can anyone help me out with photos/measurements of the correct bracket so I can fab something up?

Thanks in advance.

For the ashtray mount use this one or simply make a bracket, it will hardly be seen

Thanks, Stevie. Can you tell me the origin of that bracket? Is it original? Is it out of your car? Or something you acquired recently. Can't imagine those things are still available...

Also, how does it mount to the ashtray?

I got that bracket with a Bamberg I bought a while back. There isn't a part number on it.

The one shown with the tuner on the console is still available from Porsche. 911 552 255 00 It shows its about $ 10

In looking at the parts pfd, i found another support 911 645 137 00 that you might order, but I am not sure its correct. You might want to place a WTB add in the parts forum.

To mount the tuner under the ashtray, remove the ashtray from the car. Align the bracket with the tuner in the correct position and mark 2 holes. You must either drill thru the ashtray and use small screws and nuts or use metal screws to attach the bracket to the ashtray. In either case you will have 2 holes in the ashtray

As I mentioned, a flat piece of sheet metal would work fine.
Use a straight piece of flat sheet metal 6 1/4 inches long and 1-1 1/2 inches wide
Use the tuner as your template, 4 1/4 inches in the center with 1 inch tabs on both sides. Drill holes to match and paint with semi-gloss black and mount. Once mounted snugly under the ashtray you cannot tell any different.

Hey Man,

Here is a drawing in jpg format of the bracket you were looking for. Pm me your e-mail and I will try to send you a better copy if this doesn't work.

Best,

Rahl

Any sheet metal shop can fab the bracket from those plans. Excellent resource.

Mine does not have the microphone bracket. The mic is in the footwell pocket.

I believe this image is from a '77 onward, not the '76. The '77 had the retractable cord mic with the Bamberg which was fitted in the center console with above the A/C controls as shown in this pic. The '76 had the mic attached to the station preselector as the OP showed, I believe that '76 mic has the coiled cord (non-retractable).

I know this is a revival, of a 3 Y.O. thread, but the ashtray bracket is what’s in my ‘76, radio long gone.... it’s the same as the eBay piece...
