I spent about $26k 12 years ago. I did most of the build myself. I only sub’d out the valve job and EFI tuning. Included all engine parts, Pauter rods, JE pistons, custom intercooler, HF2 turbo, M600 Motec, M&W CDI, and a bunch of other parts. I do work in a machine shop though. Seemed crazy expensive at the time but looking back, not so much.

I won't be running CIS as the car had been converted to carbs by PO. I plan to run a 3.2 intake and stand alone, but I can't see that being a huge money sink unless you let it be. There are so many great options, many that are very cheap and pretty darn good too. (thanks to import tuners).

Yep. My friend is a BMW guy and had one of those 335's with the turbo. A tune, bigger fuel pump and E85 the thing was running low 10's in the 1/4 mile. Fuking ridiculous.

I spent around $12k for cams, headers, turbo, inter-cooler, and miscellaneous bits.
I can't believe you got head work too for $10k?

I sent most of my stuff to henry Schmidt.
he did my heads, no flow work, just ported and twin plugged.
he cross drilled my crank and sized the bearings to the crank.
I "bought" his rocker arms but had the shafts polished here.
I just bought turbokrafts rocker shaft nuts and bushings.
henrys bill was pretty hi. I also had probably 800 in shipping.
he also ported my intake

I bought used SC cams for about 350 but had them polished at local shop.
bought a core 7200 turbo and had it rebuilt and modified. maybe 1k in it but I also sold my 7006 which was still good.
I have the MS3 pro for about 1100.
also bought some of the sensors to install while building the motor

I used to pride myself in the ease and affordability to which I completed my conversion. Then I spun the clutch, then I broke a gear and then Somehow I found myself on a really steep incline where I found myself sliding down quickly. Now I just burn receipts. This is the way.

Denial is definitely how I deal with any Porsche projects. I would rather not know how much has been put into these cars.

oh yea.
did not even look at the bill from henry but it was over 5k.
had the wife pay him :)

like I said, whats worse than the big bills are allllll the small 2-300 bills later AFTER you spent the big money.
you know you are going to spend the big bucks and that OK, once the thing starts nickel and diming you to death, that's were the indigestion sets in

There is a bolt on kit that replaces the Cat for $6k that includes everything. I like it because it takes the guess work out and I can keep my Fabspeed two out muffler. And its easily reversible back to stock.
