Revert to OEM muffler but keep dump pipe

Hi,

I want to revert back to the original muffler but keep the waste gate dump pipe. For this I would need to close the pipe / connection for the OEM setup where the wast gate gets connected to the main muffler.

Is this sensible? How do I best close the pipe?

To do it cheap I would carry it to a muffler shop and have them weld up a cap that will slip into the stub then clamp it to the muffler. I have a few extra 924 turbo pipes from the wastegate to the muffler I believe these are the same size. Let me dig around and find one, you could cut it down weld it into a "plug" then slip in and install with the factory clamp and gasket... Not sure what the pipe is worth. Shipping to Germany might take forever and cost too much.

I, personally, hate the sound of the unmuffled waste gate pipe. Even with my aftermarket performance header/muffler system that sounds really great, I can still hear the waste gate. I've thought about putting a muffler back onto it (waste gate), to quiet it down. I can only imagine what it will sound like with a stock muffler reaffixed...

I did that years ago, picked up a muffler for a 79 that re-circulated the WG back into the muffler, cut off the recirc pipe, welded a round piece of metal to cover the hole, and picked up a un muffled WG dump pipe.

I may still have the WG muffler, if I can find it you can have it, as I'll never use it again.
