Chris, are the larger oil squirted San off the shelf product or do you just drill the oil squired holes to a larger diameter?
Thanks,

Rahl

Hi!

Quick update here. First, a big thanks to Chris at Turbokraft for giving a lot of good advice on the way. The build list is still as planned, with the following exception:

- I did go for the 98mm Mahle cylinders and pistons. Should give about 7,7-7,9 CR.

I have not yet decided on cams and frankly I must admit to having too little knowledge about the technical differences of them. I think I have narrowed my choices down to 964 vs GT2 EVO, but I struggle to understand what will be the differences between these two. Since I will order cams from someone who custom grinds, I can in theory order all other profiles as well. Anyone want to take a shot at educating me?

Storegnu, I recently had Turbokraft remanufacture my 3.3 engine for me, and it turned out very, very well. My specs were close to what you are considering, with a few differences, Turbokraft basically checked all clearances and anything that was marginal or out of spec was replaced. All bearings were replaced; new rings, new pistons with coatings, guides, valves, valve rocker shaft lockers, etc. etc.

my build has CR to 8:1 vs your 8.5:1; used the GT35R turbo (which is really nice compared to stock). New bolts, stock rods (rebalanced and ends checked for roundness, etc.

Mine is EFI with flat intake - I read the flat stock intakes are not really a constraint unless you are opening the ports and doing valve work, which I was not having done. I think the flat intake can handle up to like 600HP, so I am safe there. I am still single plug.

I went with SC330 style new cams - they are supposed to bring the power a little lower in the RPM's than a 964, but higher than an SC cam, as I recall. ... there are threads here on these cams and comparing them.

I think your choices make a lot of sense and sound similar with a bit more CR, etc.

My engine is very smooth and runs very well - the power is broadly available, however I did lose the slingshot launch feel that the stock turbo and engine had (low performance then zoom to redline). I think you will get similar - depends on your cam to some extent also the cam timing - once you decide on cams you need to decide the cam timing as this will either accentuate the peak power the cams can enable or will dampen it and broaden it, or move it up or down the rpm band a little. These little things are the things that will take some consideration. imho.

I can share more details via email if it helps you. Or, well worth finding a way to have Turbokraft help you in some way. Good luck and let us know how it works out!
