lets talk quite exhausts

After three long fun filled/ frustrating winters of tinkering my 3.0l row turbo in a rust free 1980sc steel body is finally on the road and drivable. Thanks to the help of so many list members here.
The car is intended to be my daily fair weather driver. i built it for reliability not hp. with mild upgrades new factory mahle p&c, long neck Ic evergreen k27 raptor mod turbo, fully adjustable WUR and sc cams. after my first few 100 or so miles i already know i don't like the droning or the popping of my ss aftermarket exhaust that came with the motor, while casually driving but it does sound amazing when i get on it. I'm considering looking for a proven quiet/dialed down aftermarket exhaust. or a factor muffler What year 930 factor muffles will bolt on to the 76 turbo and are some years considered more quiet than others ? thanks in advance for any recommendations
Regard
Ned

Photo of your existing system?
Are you recirculating the wastegate exit muffler (common on early engines) or dumping to atmosphere.

We make a quiet 3in setup that fits 1976-89:

It's a relatively large stainless can looks fairly new but at least 25 years old. the car sat for 20 year before I acquired it 4 years ago...

Thanks.

We've had clients comment these are exhausts for "grown ups": quiet enough that with the windows up, you can talk with the passenger without having to shout; enough sound that you know it's not stock, yet quiet enough that you can fly under the radar (as much as you can in a 930) and not draw attention when you don't want to -- just keep your foot out of it.
But lean into the throttle and you still hear everything: the turbo whistle, and that breathy tenor pitch of an air-cooled 911 with no droning.

* All stainless steel, 3.0in throughout
* 1/2in turbo flange
* M18 Lambda sensor port in downpipe
* v-band between downpipe and muffler
* OE type 3in swivel coupler for the tailpipe to ensure correct fitment -- you can angle it any way you prefer it (horizontal, angle down, whatever)
Need to remove the muffler? Simple and fast: 1x v-band clamp and 1x bolt

Post a few more pics, if you can.
I'd guess B&B (Billy Boat) or GHL, with the WG recirc added.

Monty had rounded end caps, not flat.

If performance is not important then the OE muffler with waste gate integration will be the most quiet.

Next step would be using the OE muffler with separate waste gate dump pipe.

Expect a reduction in throttle response, increase in turbo lag, and corked performance with any OE muffler.

To get back the performance with no fear of the neighbors throwing rocks at you there is the RarlyL8 Street muffler. All of the turbo noises are present but muted without harming performance. It's not stock quiet but also not considered loud at idle and cruise. Gates of hell open up when you get on boost, which of course you control. If you want to knock that down a bit on boost add back the OE waste gate muffler.

Dansk has a stainless knock off of the OEM European muffler 93011103700 that looks like it would bolt right up with a little fabrication for my waist gate dump pipe says it's for a 3.3 but looks like my 3.0s plumbing was altered by the past owner to fit the current ss can .
Is anyone using one of these ? Or does anyone have any info on these. It's big I'm assuming some what quite .

The Dansk mufflers are heavy, but any muffler with a lot of metal baffling and sound deadening will be heavy.
We have not found any of the Dansk mufflers to fit worth a damn. All 3x were used on all-original CIS engine restorations 1976-84. Each muffler had to be cut between the turbine flange and muffler canister, and rewelded.
The version with the wastegate plumb back was worst. We reused the original pipe that bolted to the WG and re-made the rest into the muffler.

Also, if that's yours in the first photo, it looks like an old B&B muffler that's been modified to have the WG dump into the muffler outlet.

Its funny you say that im a 356 guy and found the Dansk mufflers to be an awful fit on the 356 that was my next question .luckily for me fitment is not an issue am im quite handy with the tig . but would not buy a new one just to chop it up . i would consider a used one if one came along. yes that other picture is my current muffler.
