K27 spooling noise question
So, got my car back on the road recently, after it spun a big-end. Whew, spendy.
Didn't avoid the "while you're there" trap, and rebuilt with GHL headers, K27/HF (and other goodies). Still running it in, and restricting both the amount of throttle and the revs for the time being. Apart from anything else, it's been pretty wet here recently... One thing I've noticed - the stock paperweight would spool up and sound like an air-raid siren before getting into any serious boost, but the K27 with those headers gets into boost quite easily/soon with minimal throttle. I've had the (factory) wastegate open more than once, but I have yet to hear the K27 at all - all I can think is that because I'm hardly using any throttle, it's not spinning fast enough yet. I miss the sound - can anyone with a K27 comment if they hear it spooling at all? Thanks!

What muffler are you running?
With a stock Euro muffler I cannot hear my K27 spool.

Hi Brian,
Same here, stock Euro muffler; separate wastegate dump pipe. Thanks! Huh. I could hear the factory turbo spooling very clearly - over either the factory muffler or the appallingly loud open pipe that used to be fitted - usually before any significant power appeared. Maybe it was worn or something...
