Torsion bars..How big is too big..what is just right?

Opinions wanted on torsion bar diameters. I have a '83 930 Euro spec. I find it way too soft for my driving preference. I've done the sport Bilstein upgrade, braided stainless steel brake lines, Pagid brake pads. Now for torsion bars, strut tower brace, big/adj. anti-sway's, and of course dropping it out of the sky an minimum of 2 inch's. So I would like to hear from any & all on your torsion bar diameters choices. I was thinking 22's front 30's rear...but?

I've heard 22/30's are a good compromise for street and occassional track. You don't want it TOO firm for street.

I have 22/31 and it seems to have pretty good balance altough I haven't had it on the track yet.

I'm running 22/30 TB's with revalved bilsteins from SRP, and their anti roll bars as well. Nice combo with for street/track setup. I live in SE Michigan (Detroit suburbs) and the roads, well, SUCK, so a bit more compliance goes a long way.

PO fitted 21 front and 30 rear on my '77 S tub.

Rear controls the squat from the 930 pretty well, and the rear just feels planted most of the time (slight body roll, it's got the skinny original sways F/R).

In comparison to the rear, the front felt a little livelier up and down at first (yeh, it damps fine). I know a lot of people would go up a TB size on the front, but this isn't a 930.

Because the front moves freely, it feels supple and it does seem to keep the rubber on the ground pretty well, even on fast, bumpy curves.

I drive the car on the street all the time, 10,000+ miles a year. It's not particularly harsh even with 17" Kumhos, although I do tend to drive around bigger potholes...

I'm no 911 expert, but the car feels pretty good to me.

I ran mine on the street for years and on the track as wll with 23 front 33 rear

If your engine is stock 22/30 is a good combo.
If you start adding power you will likely need to up the rear number to reduce squat.

I have your same car, cool, I'm running 22/28, bilstein sports front/rear with strut brace, lowered just a tad under the euro ride height, nice and tight all around, do about 4 track days a year, I'm also in Seattle. . .

I've just added a strut tower brace, and I think I will go with 23mm fronts and 31 mm rears. More hp is in the near future so I'm going to set it up stiffer now so I'm ready for the next step.
