K27 Vs K26 turbo
I have just blown the seal in my K26 turbocharger and obviously it needs to be rebuilt. I have some advice that I should scrap it and upgrade to a K27.
Is this advice warranted, and what performance increase could I expect if I do so? There are no aftermarket headers or other mods in place. I appreciate your views. Cheers! |

Hmm...what car is it? 930's have either 3DLZ or K27. K26 is smaller turbo often found in 944 Turbo and Audi S2.

![]() Never the less, the unit that I have purchased is a K27 part no. 5327 988 7200. Would the updated turbo even if it replaces an existing K27 be better? Thanks everyone. |

The K27-7200 is a much better turbo than the 3DLZ. You will notice greater gains if you have the Euro or '86-on US heat exchangers in place.
Be advised that the K27 is not a simple plug and play. You will have to fiddle with the alignment a bit. There is an adapter sold by iA and others that will help.
