Need tire size help

Those BBS Racing wheels just came in and I measured the sizes. Fronts are 16x9 and rears are 17x12. What sizes are you guys running on similar widths?

Are you looking to run street tires or race tires?

I'm looking at street tires. I did think about Nitto 555r drag radials. I guess the rears should be 315/35/17 and the fronts 245/45/16. I'm just hesitant about tires that wide up front. How's the steering effort?

245/40/17 on 9"ers are fine up front. If you have a smaller sport steering wheel the steering effort can be quite a bit in the parking lot but at speed it's fine and you should love the turn-in. I ran 275/17 up front on our RSR clone and THAT was a workout on the forearms for sure! LOL ;-)

Me thinks 12" width in the rear is gonna be really tight - hope you got the offset right. Biggest I've fit on a 930 and the RSR clone were 315 on 11" and even then I seem to remember we had to move the oil line in a bit. Perhaps others have done it without rubbing...

I just measured the wheelwells and the oil line will be really close! The wheels came off a 930 race car in LA so I figured the wheels would fit easily. Then they showed up and I saw they were 12s.

Awww, no joy! I need skinnier wheels. -2" in the rear and -1" in the front. Looks like I need 4" outers for the rears and 3" for the front.

I guess your option might be to change out the halves?

Yup. I have double checked, triple checked and quadruple checked. I'll need 3" outers for the front and 3.5" outers for the rear. I could go with 7.5" inners on the rear, too, but I'll see how these work out.

I removed the spacer in the rear and needed to leave the front one to clear the calipers.

Do you have a source for your BBS halves? What will it be costing, about 2-$300/wheel?
