Blown Six intercooler,install problems?
Anyone own the latest edition of the Blown Six intercooler?Having any problems getting it to fit properly?
|
Get ahold of Al at this email address: allklu@telus.net
He has been trying to get one to fit for some time and has been in touch with Michael, the owner of B6 for some time over fitment issues. He's been nice enough to send me pictures of his efforts. I have a B6 intercooler that I haven't tried to install yet, so I can't be any help....but Al can. Please tell him Chuck referred you so he doesn't wonder how he got fronted on this. |
Agreed
Chuck and Browzer52,
I'm also in the middle of installing a K27S and B6 intercooler. I will shoot Al an email and mention this thread Chuck. Let's pool our efforts to figure this thing out. Bryan. |
I'll post more pictures as soon it will be finished......

I also have a recently-purchased B6 intercooler for an '86 930 that I am planning to fit in a month or so when I have engine out for a clutch job.
Holding the IC above the standard one doesn't give me warm fuzzy feelings about fitting it. Because the B6 header tanks are front/rear compared to left/right for standard IC, many of the smaller hose connections are in different places (no real drama), but main problem looks like mounts that are in different places. I'll watch this thread with interest! |
Bryan: You're the man....great idea on pooling resources and efforts to find a workable solution. I'm confident that the product will work well if and when we can figure out how in the hell to get it to fit. This should have been an R and D issue with B6, but I've made the investment, so now the objective is to get it to fit without cutting up my engine shroud or compartment lid.... My email address is fishoncj@aol.com if you want to send me pics. I'm trying to build a file of pics and text from guys who are tackling this issue. Some have just quit and sent it back.
Good effort Bryan...keep on trucking. Chuck |

At the end, silver high temp welding...... The end this week-end......;) |
I was following this thread to find out more about the install process and workmanship of the B6 IC...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/335919-9-000-upgrades-what-2-buy-3.html . Unfortuately it has stalled. F350lawman purchased a 1/2 bay B6.
I am interested in any fitment issues that arise from the 1/2 bay and not the full bay as 935Turbo has posted |

I have not pulled the trigger on the B6...I was watching the same ones on ebay from a guy in Toronto, the same one F350lawman purchased. (thats why I was interested in his thread) I am not totally convinced that jerry rigging it is the way to go....not too interested in any possiblility of grenading my engine. I am thinking a call to ANDIAL will be my next move. |
It's actually pretty darn easy. But then again I sourced ALL the factory 965 parts to make it fit.
......Whereupon I discovered the engine/G50 trans mounted too far back for it to fit - a unique problem to my car only. My entire setup will be for sale, easy install IMO. |
