CIS with Twin Turbos, circa 1985 baby:

"Back in those days, also the ALMERAS brothers from France built a 930TT CIS project. I've attached some pics of an article from 1985( German mag. Rallye Racing 5/85), but you can't see very much of the engine"

Never saw that one before. Rather 959 like isn't it?
Any chance of finding engine pictures?

How do I take a picture from a Microsoft Word document -- to get it here on this post?

Take a screenshot, then paste it into paint and save it.

Hold down shift and tap the "Prt Scr" or "Print Screen" button.

looks like the Almeras brothers were trying to build a Ferrari rather than a Porsche

NathanUK 01-28-2008 12:40 PM

Yeah I agree hehe.

Good guys though.

fitting twins to CIS is a non-trivial task and not-efficient moneywise either.
So, now you tell me :D I'm trying GT20's and NO, this isn't the easiest or cheapest route, but like Brian thats not why I'm doing it.

Cool pic's above and more details appreciated.

Does PtotoTech offer a heat shield as well?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201063394.jpg

no problem amigo,do what l did--swain-tech coat the turbo hot sides. This works waaaay better then any insulating blanket and l can actually touch the turbo a few minutes after a run.The heat stays inside where it belongs, faster spool up,etc and keep in mind the airflow helps dissipate heat also..

red9 08-03-2009 04:36 PM

How has Swain worked over longer period? Can it affect turbo life?

Run a 964 oil tank for TT room.

I wonder why some one has not put a MFI pump on top of the pancake manifold for a street 930 and dumped the CIS all togeather. Then put a boost can on top of the pump in-place of the altitude can and or in front where the warm up thermostat goes.

Here is a shot of a twin turbo motor in a DP Cab from the photo gallery page. Looks like cis. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1249525181.jpg

A 5 blade fan on a twin turbo?
I can't tell from the pic if it is CIS.

Lukesportsman 08-06-2009 11:15 AM

Is that what they call "badge engineering"? At least it wasn't one of silly Americans that did that :D

911st 08-06-2009 11:27 AM

Looks like two ebay inter-coolers and they put the badges where the original supply holes were that they had to weld up. Probably a 2.7 twin turbo. There was a post somewhere of a guy that made some pretty crazy HP with such a set up and took it to the drags.

This is a seriously hot-rodded CIS 2.8 twin turbo set up (based on a mag case no less), and with a 928 fuel head, the two extra injectors being used for enrichment (pretty trick, huh?). The guy that built it lives in Sweden, and says that he has never had any problems with cooling even with the 5 blade fan.

Says it makes about 400hp reliable and spanks a lot of stuff at track. PM or email him, pretty nice guy, doesnt post much tho, as he is too busy building stuff.

RarlyL8 08-06-2009 06:48 PM

I recognize that engine, didn't realize the car was a cab! Spoke with him some time back, nice fellow. VERY outside the box thinking on that one.
