Stock Cams in the 964 3.6 Turbo
I'm trying to find out what type of cam's are in the 3.6 liter 964 Turbo motor. I've been able to confirm they are in different then the 3.3 liter motor (at least by part number).
Thanks |

That being said, not much info on the C2 cam profile, and the aftermarket cam makers (webcams and DR) do not list a separate profile for the C2 (vs the 930). Pat K 87 930 Slant |

Thanks Pat...I should mentioned in my post. I have the a 91 Turbo which also has power steering. I've pretty much decided on the SC grind as it matches up with my use, and keeps me in the proper class for SCCA/PCA.
I have a set of 3.6 C2 Turbo cams that I was planning on having reground (by camgrinder). Now that I found out they are different then the 3.3 (for the 91 Turbo's) I'm curious what the difference is before I pull the trigger. |

All 30.and 3.3L turbos run the same very mild duration cam. Anderson gives the duration but not the lift. The '91-92 3.3L put in the 964 was almost the same. Very mild with just a a little more duration on the intake. Essentially, still a 1975 spec cam. The 94 3.6L based (still CIS) Turbo had a cam which is almost exact to the 3.2L Carrera. Finally, the 95 (993 series TT), presumably unburdened by CIS, has a serious cam profile with good intake and exhaust duration. Anderson's chart is incomplete regarding GT2 and GT2 EVO port, valve size and cam spec. These would be very interesting to add to this comparison. Last edited by copbait73; 02-16-2008 at 02:54 PM.. |

Good info! I think we're getting closer. Is the 3.2L carrera cam similar to the SC grind?
