what's this relay?

Now that Porsche AG made Pelican remove its' handy-dandy parts diagrams I'm afraid I'll have quite a bit more questions for this board- which is sure to reveal my lack of technical prowess. If that statement leaves you with a quizzical look on your face check out the parts diagrams section and you'll see that it has changed and the reason why. Here's my first in a long string of annoyingly simple questions:

I'm installing a Leask RPM solenoid and would like to stick the MSD control box in the engine fuse panel. There would be enough room on top of the panel if it weren't for a pesky yellow relay (see pic). I'm not sure what it's for and was hoping someone might chime in and edumacate me on it's purpose in life. I'm planning on grounding my overboost sensor so I'm not sure if this has something to do with that and can maybe be removed.?.

That is the overboost relay. Do a search for yellow relay and you'll find lots of info. Here's some info: Name this part and its function and win

Thanks Mark! Had a hunch it was for overboost. Checked for other posts and, so far, haven't found one for eliminating the circuit altogether- although there were some comments about a jumper used to eliminate the relay. May look into that so I'm not stranded someday.

Just curious, why do you want to defeat the overboost protection?

Running 0.8 bar spring in new Tial wg. Have a reliable backup boost gauge w/telltale and don't want to be stranded somewhere when the sensor or relay go bad. Recently purchased a Kokeln I/C and the factory tapped the orifice for the overboost switch poorly...according to Steve at IA (where I got it) it takes so long for them to make I/C's that it wasn't worth sending back. I had to have a local welder tig weld a plug into the overboost switch hole and am now going to ground out the sender lead. I know I'm removing a layer of protection but I'm one of those guys who watches everything pretty closely.
