overfull on oil ?

i made the mistake of overfilling my engine. i purchased the 5 quart containers instead of the gallon containers. will i damage anything, if i test drove the car to warm it up to check the level or can i just correct the level and destress myself?

Warm it up and check the oil. You won't do damage just doing that. See where your level is and drain accordingly. You will be helping to flush out the oild oil from your oil cooler.

Typically a 930 oil change with a new filter will take 10qts of oil, maybe a hair more, so I do not think you have overfilled.

The car has to be warm to do a propoer check and perfectly horizontal as well.

Hope that helps. Also do not trust that silly gauge on the dash.
