Question AFR Gauge/System for 1979 CIS 930?

I've got my 930 in the shop with engine dropped. After reading many threads about the importance of getting my AFR right, I'm in the market for an AFR Gauge/Sytem for my CIS 930.

I'm adding a B&B SST exhaust. I already have an Andial fuel mixture dial [maybe 3settings] along with the "7th" injector at the intake manifold.

What suggestions are out there for a system? I've seen the Innovate website... What is out there that will give me the ability to see/log/adjust my AFR with my CIS system?

Thanks - Shannon

Option

Innovate works well. I just installed mine and very happy with the look, fit and finish. This is what I purchased below. This is the stand-a-lone gage kit and will be 1000 times easier to install with the engine dropped. I just finished routing my wires and it was PITA with the motor in.

Best of luck!

I've got the same innovate system as Bryan. A little more wire from the controller to the gauge would be nice. Or an extension between the sensor and the controller to get the controller into the passenger compartment would be nice. They just don't make it.

The "In your face gauge" looks nice and solves the problem of where to mount the gauge. I know the later cars can utilize more functions, but having boost and AFR readings is great. Of course you won't be able to see both at the same time (and on the track, I'm not flipping the stalk to look).

Actually you can see 4 inputs at a time on a screen and push a button and see 4 more and push a button and see four more till the serial bus is tapped out.

I stand corrected, but how easy is it to see them at speed? The larger numbers are a plus.

Hi, no doubt about that, it is a small display to show 4 inputs. You can get logging also, which is the best way to tune. I don't have one of these Yet, but I really want one. I think the Gold standard here would be a nice 934 Boost gauge, with the InYour Face setup logging. The LM-1 setup to log is nice also. I just spent some time tuning mine into a blown head gasket with one:-(

I think the advantage of the PLX based stuff is the ability to do tons of inputs in one nice display. I forget how many inputs you can have on it, but it's a lot. Like Fuel Pressure, IC in/OUT temps. AFR, BOOST/MAP , OIL Pressure/temp, Multiple EGT, ETC. PLX is adding stuff all the time. With the PLX system you could plumb all your header primaries with EGT probes and analyze Fuel distribution individually.

I have the boost and AFR setup in my car and I really like it, it is easy to read when you are driving and the numbers on the 4-parameter display are about the same size as the speedometer. You can create custom gauges and configure just about anything you can think of. I still need to connect my to my laptop and load up a red background with black numbers to match the tach, when I have it on the multi display I use white so it is easy to read.

Wiltel,
I just saw your car on a VW forum I thought!

X98Boardwell and A930Rocket, I like the innovative units as well. I am going to purchase the LM-1 as well, because having a portable unit is nice too.
