racing fuel tanks
Anyone know where the cheapest place to buy a racing fuel tank? What's better -Fuel Safe vs ATL? I want to use it for 930 for the track. Do most people use a 10 gallon or bigger for PCA track events? Hipdoc

Considering that the choices that we have for the 930 for a fuel cell...either fuelsafe or ATl....both of which are VERY expensive in my book...1500 to 2000 bucks for one... WHy not just stay with your stock tank? If you are only doing DE events...you are not required to have a fuel cell..and you could spend the money on suspension or other items.
If you are PCA club racing the car...than that would be a different story all together...

The car is strictly going to be a track car, so I really want to use a racing tank. I recently got a rollcage put in and setting up the fuel system is next on the agenda. Any ideas out there?

You don't have to buy the one that fits the factory fuel tank location and cost an arm and a leg. A typical rectangular one can be installed. The size would depend on how much fuel you need based on the length of the race and your mpg.
I would imagine either brand would do the trick. |

Do the AFL/Fuel Safe fit exactly into the original tank space? Also I've seen several track cars using a accumilator tank - what's the best size for that?

 You get a rectangular box and cut, weld, and cram it in there on your own.

Then why does Fuel Safe label their tank for a 911, 993, etc... Why am I paying for a tank that's a standard size and the car needs to be modified to fit?

They have one that fits the original fuel tank opening, but it's four times or more what a standard rectangular fuel cell costs. Replacing a bladder if needed is a lot more I imagine as well.

As long as they properly mounted, I would say yes. They have baffles, foam, bladders, check valves, etc. that the stock tank does not.

Does it take welding a plate to the bottom of the car to mount the rectangular tank? If I'm looking at doing some track stuff, what's a good size tank for that purpose; 10Gal, 15Gal, or more?

This is a thread from a guy that is supercharging his motor, but there are a few shots of his solution for a race tank. After talking with you yesterday, this may be an option. You may want to post your questions on the DE and Racing forum as well. Depending on what series/class you run, it might make a difference. They can also give better info on makes, models and installation.
