San Diego tuner and smog questions!
Hi 930 owners,
I just recently moved to San Diego and am looking for the name of the premier porsche tuner in the area. My car has a motec system installed. Also I didn't have any smog tests to comply to in Arlington WA where I used to live and now have to worry about smog testing. My car has a whole list of mods most important being Evo cams. Please read the following excerpt and make comments. "I also live in Georgia (Atlanta) area. I have an '87 Carrera Cabrio with some modifications (chipped and exhaust). My old mechanic (before he retired) worked in the factory before coming to the US. He knew the air-cooled cars inside and out. Anyway, he "modified" my car to get max performance, but it wouldn't pass the GA annual emission test. He said no problem - simple fix. I would go for the emission test and get the "failed" results. Always failed on CO2. I would go back to him and the fix cost absolutely nothing. He just loosened the oil filler cap to the max, I actually took it off. I brought the car back for a free re-inspection, and passed with flying colors. As a matter of fact I almost started laughing when the emission tester told me that my car was runner cleaner than some '07 Carreras that he had tested. By significantly loosening or actually removing the oil filler cap, the engine will suck in huge amounts of air and dilute the CO2 going out of the exhaust pipe. You will pass with flying colors." Has anyone ever tried this procedure with any luck??? Thanks, Ken |
