exhaust systems
Now that the car is finally here and I have introduced it to you all..... I need some help.
First inspection of the car shows the factory exhaust system shows signs of rusting through in spots. So, what systems are recommended on here for fit, function, sound, and of course power? I am looking to retain the ability to have heat in the car so any system must have heater boxes. I know of GHL, Fabspeed, B&B, and have checked out Rarely8 website (great stuff by the way), but don't know of any others. Any recommendations would be great. As of now I am leaning towards have Rarely8 build be something, but want to check out the market first. Thanks for your help!!!

+1001 on Brian's Zork or GT3 style setup - these cars were made to be loud. Not to mention you'll save weight

Here is an option that this forum took part in not that long ago it uses 993 Heat exchangers and my 321 stainless steel y set up for rarlyl8's mufflers or in fact any muffler for a turbo the price is very in expensive for what you get

Thanks for he replies guys.
Ben I had one of your 1in 1 out mufflers on my 88' and loved it. You do great work too, and am glad to see you did something for the 930's as well. I truly want to stay within the Porsche community for the exhaust. Why pay top dollar for a name, when you can help local Porsche people out in their cause.... Did hear about GHL actually, but thought a few of you might have their systems from before.

There are many options for aftermarket or custom constructed exhaust systems. You can go for the gusto and do the Zork thing (as long as your local law enforcement folks...and neighbors) are somewhat tollerant of the glorious report. Or, do what a good percentage of folks have done is to trash the stock muffler and go with something from B&B, GHL, or Fabspeed...just to name a few. They all make a marked difference in the melody and performance, overall. I am personally using one from Fabspeed and like it just fine.

Wow that kinda sucks. I have a new set of GHL header/heat exchangers I bought for the warranty...guess that won't be of much good any more.
![]() I just searched and on a Vette forum they said they were shut down till Feb for retooling.

I offer a limited warranty on anything I sell but always work with folks even if the problem is not with my product (such as fitment issues with aftermarket headers).
The 993 H/E based system is probably the best quality for the buck going right now. You get OEM bullit proof heat exchangers that produce real heat and a waste gate circuit that should control boost better than other non-custom system currently available. Lots of muffler configuration and sound options.

Garrison-
I put on one of Brian's (RarlyL8) dual-out systems this summer. The workmanship is beyond reproach, he was great to deal with, the price was more than acceptable... and the sound - oh the MF'ing glorious melodious downright RACUOUS SINISTER MF'ING BAD-@$$ SOUND. << I've got vids of my @ speed under full boot that I've been waiting on for months (long story). Can't wait to post them. Until then, just take my word fer it 8-). Good luck, report back with your choice. Whatever you choose, the weight savings, boost threshold / power improvement, look, and sound - will all be worth it. |

Here is mine. It is very similar to Brian's setup I believe. I got lucky and found the straight pipe on Ebay very cheap and I welded in a header collector insert. It probably sounds about like what Brian can offer. Brian, is this accurate?

What are the dump pipes going to look like on the 993 twin waste gate circuit setup? I use TIAL, so the twin waste gate would increase the cost by what, $350 for another unit? Do you know what the final cost is going to be?

Don, the dual 38mm TiAL waste gates are actually less expensive than a single 46mm TiAL! They run around $500 for the set.
Right now it looks like the entire complete setup with exchangrs Y-pipe and waste gates will go ~$2100. Mark, that sounds like my Hooligan Exhaust which has no sound deadening material. Very raw and exciting to drive/experience. My street version is more quiet but has the same whistles and burbles.
