82sc turbo project
No turning back now, going with a precision turbo t series 6157, which specs out close to a k27, using a stock waste gate with a home fabbed .5 bar spring and a boost controller, intercooler is a re-worked stock 944 front mount with piping to be fabbed, ignition is an MSD 6BTL which will pull up to 3 degrees of timing per lb of boost. Hope
to be done by late January and hoping for 225-240 horsepower to the wheels! ![]()

Tim,
Sounds like a good plan. I like the idea of a blow through CIS. Could just put an air filter on the turbo like one of the 3.2 conversion guys here to keep it simple. Though that scares some. Bet you get over 240whp at .5 bar once it is dialed in. |

.5 bar
With a .5 bar spring and a boost controller I will be able to turn boost up slowly as I watch AFR'S.
Locally I can pump 100 octane unleaded and or 110 octane leaded right into the car, so I hope to be able to run closer to .9 bar safely.

What are you using for a boost gauge, is it a direct fit for the clock? How did you modify the WG spring to 6lbs?

I found a greddy boost gauge that was exact fit for clock replacement, slid right in perfectly. As far as wastegate spring, we will have parts available soon to modify porsche wastegates to any boost level from 3psi up.

Love it!
Can you post more pics of the air box? I just tried this with my 2.7 but blew a piston. Now in the process of installing a 3.3. 1st step is to verify the condition of the 3.3 by running it with the proven 2.7. setup.

wastegate
Converts your wastegate to an adjustable one or sets your wastegate to desired boost. I chose to go low boost on the wastegate and run a boost controller to turn it up.

Please provide a model, part number, or size of this boost gauge. I'm also interested in the spring selection.

Great Project!!!
One suggestion-Your MSD-COIL-OIL Filled- In your Pic- IS UPSIDE DOWN. I had mine the same way for years, until I started having misses. It leaked ever so lightly. Walt Last edited by wjfk32; 03-23-2011 at 05:12 AM.. |

I bet you will be closer to 300hp, i was running 8-9lbs of boost with the use of a 7th injector on my 79 engine which was putting out around 350. I had my MSD BTM retard set at just under 1 with stock timing.
