Tech Line Internal Engine coatings

Hi all,

Has any one used the Tech Line retail DFL-1 and CBC-1 coatings on turbo rebuild?
I'm wondering if these water based products work with Porsche turbo rebuilds.

I'd rather use the shop version of these products but they are only sold to licensed shops so DIYers are forced to use the water based products.

I was also interested in the low friction coatings PkLS and DFL-1. these are supposed to reduce friction. They also have some heat tprotection ceramics for the pistons and cylinder head. Some say this doesn't work. From the manufacturer:

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The PowerKote line was developed to provide high pressure and high temperature lubrication. PowerKote is available in a standard formulation, DFL-1, that will fit most needs. Versions are available that met FDA guidelines as well as versions where lubrication at temperatures over 1500f are needed. Most lubricants begin to fail at @ 700F; PowerKote will lubricate from sub zero temperatures to well over 2000F. PowerKote is water based and has no solvents and is a zero VOC material. PowerKote can be cured by baking at 300F for 1 hour or where baking of the coated component is not possible allowing PowerKote to air dry is a viable option. The primary curing mechanism is the evaporation of the water. PowerKote has excellent chemical and solvent resistance. Spray from any conventional spray equipment. PowerKote may also be brushed on. PowerKote is also available as a paste where needed.

The consensus on the rebuild forum is that this is one of the best things that u can do for your engine (especially for air-cooled like ours) PERIOD during the rebuild

Ceramic coating

Jamie just finished his N/A 3.2SS rebuild, and swears that it is the cause of his rediculously low engine temps and improved combustion 3.2SS Engine feedback - post break-in

I would have done it on my recent rebuild, but i had never heard about the stuff until now, but i will certainly be doing it on my upcoming turbo motor.

Maybe Paul (Dynamohum) can chime in more on the benefits, as he is in the middle of his turbo build, and is coating everything just about everything in the motor.
