I meant to post this instead of the same pic twice and for some reason I couldn't edit my post.

From the looks of that, I'd say the 50k mileage is an irrelevant data point

That's quite a project. You'd have to pay me to take that on. Probably worth more parted out than as a "complete" car. If you're hauling the whole lot away, I'll shoot in the dark and say $3k.

Too many spendy bits are going to be missing.

Engine is probably a complete rebuild.

In my opinion, its only a pile of resale parts.

Not going to run as a whole unit again. Sad to see.

Yea and you won't believe the asking price. He says he has the complete car but this is all i have as far as pic for right now. I could ask for more to see what other parts he has. I was thinking around 4k as well so it's nice to know I'm not too far off.

Good question, not know any detail more than the pictures show. Engine condition, suspension all there, interior all there??? You'll probably put $15,000+ into it just to make it road worthy.
Offer $3-$5000 for a basket case. I've never done a 930 restoration at this level (though once did an MGA in about the same condition as your pictures....yes I still have it!).

I wouldn't go over $2000 due to the weather damage. It'll cost you a lot more than the $20K to $25K you could buy a decent '79 930 for.

Take a look at the background in the two pictures you have ..... clearly this person takes proper care of their mechanical equipment.

Save yourself some time & money.

Always cheaper to buy it completed. Unless of course you just love the thrill of that kind of project. Hell, I have a 78 930 posted for sale right now for $28k and it's beautiful and runs perfect. You'll spend a hell of a lot more than that to get that to a decent level.

The dude should part it out....oh, but wait!!!...it appears to have already been parted out. Does anybody want to guess on how many mice are living down inside that intake manifold? And do you know how corrosive mouse pee is to cylinder walls?

How much money do you have to throw down a rathole? It better be a BIG pile.

No windows and out in the weather? This is a possible shell for a track car, it would cost crazy money to bring it back to anything resembling stock.

yep parts car.

look at the motor mount cross member its bent up!

look at the sheet metal tin work around the left side of the motor bent up.

why is the intercooler gone? or off

i vote for rear end damage! looks like it was hit hard enough to get onto the motor and damage intercooler. i bet if you go and look at all the parts he has they are from different cars as he has collected parts over the years.

buy the car if you have the time and money isn't a factor. as this car will only revile its evils in time.

i have bought these kinda cars in the past and they have all told there story in the end.

i just bought last year my dream car a 79 oak green 930 with 38k miles for 24k. so these cars can be had for a good price.

cheers ed

Apparently someone offered him 14k for it.

Here is the email he sent me.

well, I will agree with you that it is not a SMALL project, but as I have been offered 14K for the parts alone,6K just for the engine. You are WAY off.
If you want to play with 911 Turbo's you will need a hefty bank account, you 3k would barely keep a prestene 911 turbo on the road for one year, just oil changes, spark plugs and tuneup would chew thru that amount. If 3K is your budget and you have your heart set on a Porsche you are looking at a 912 or a 924. Good luck with your search.
