Is this car being bought and resold again, or did it never sell the first time ?

Wow...I almost bought this car in 2008 when it was for sale in Park Place in WA, they wanted $55K for it back then.

Now..as fate has it, the car is now only 4hours away from me, would love to see it in the flesh, as it still intrigues me.

Would like to know who was the builder and a PPI report.

Would add carbon fiber or look to the dash...

Nice looking car. Unique.

Awsome car color aside. I don't really even mind the inside. But I drove a purple with flames dodge dakota for a year before I painted it. Personal family friend bought it for me at an auction for a "good price". He's color blind and it was dirty too. My nightmare.
I could easily drive this for a year and not even paint it later.

With a dry carbon dash, or even just black leather and a set of black 935 5 spoke wheels this thing could be sexy.

The builder I believe was jerry woods or holcombe, very high $ build - at this price its so worth it, you can't touch half the mods to the motor for that $ figure.

I too dig the color, just wish they used somthing else in the interior.

Huge special wishes stuff in there tho - leather EVERYWHERE. Color coded lights knob, leather dash, gauge trim rings, consoles, color coded vents, etc. Nutty!

Tho gotta say it always steams me to read the STOOPID ARSE PHRASE: "over $xyz000 INVESTED"...

INVESTED

With WHO!!?!?!?? Bernie Madoff??? Awesome ROI there Captain Investment: $200k in, $47k out... um, yeah.

SPENT, sure, INVESTED, no. Toolbox.

Anywho, neat car and great score for someone.

My buddy Dave here ('89 930) just got a Purple People Eater 993tt - least that one had the decency to have a grey gut! Black wheels tho w/ purple pinstripe on the lip - um, yeah. He replaced w/ biatchin SSR polished 5's (or Fikse, forget). Maybe he'll post pics.

Best part of that car is his summation, despite some tastey mods to the 993tt: "I prefer my '89"... 'nuff said!

i think the car is a beauty. It needs some black wheels and and a few more interior black accents but otherwise it looks sharp.

As far as I can tell the interior and exterior are imaculate. If the engine is as nice as advertised and in similar shape it seems like a real bargain.....

At least they cleaned up the engine compartment. Looked pretty shoddy with the chipped and peeling intercooler before. I seem to rememeber Steven Kaspar (Imagine Auto) posting a while back that he flew up to Washington to check out the car for a potential purchaser and there were lots of "issues" with the engine build. That although Holcombe originally built, it had lots of work performed since... My memory isn't what it once was, so take this for what its worth. An extensive PPI would be a given...

I felt really good about what I paid for my 930 last fall til I saw this 700+whp for $43k. There has to be some negative history here, like quite a few hard driven miles since the build???

Those FVD intercoolers have been tested, and they are worse than a stock 993 turbo unit, which is only good for a max of 550bhp. There is no way it can sustain than power with that intercooler, but that's not really a big deal, you can no doubt have a proper one made that will.

Does anyone have any spec on the rest of the engine?

If I was a serious buyer, I would let RUF/RAC in dallas do a dyno test and PPI.

I've been lurking for a while, and hadn't seen this post. Paulie is correct... a good friend and I bought a "Barney" a while ago. I don't have many pictures of it, but here are a couple. The first pic is of the car as we bought it:

This picture is of it in my garage with the black wheels swapped out in favor of some FM5's... but not waxed up. We've decided to take these FM5's off and put on a set of 19 inch FM5's with painted silver centers. Reducing the "bling" factor of this purple car seems to make it more palatable to me:

The car is a rocket ship, as the PO spent $20k or so on upgrades from boost control to turbos, exhaust, intercooler, coilovers, etc... The interior is gray with sport seats, the back of which are painted in that same purple. I can honestly say that I wouldn't have ever chosen a "Barney purple" 993tt, but the price of admission for this 40something thousand mile car was just too good to pass up. Apparently other buyers were too scared of the fact that this car had a prior front end incident. The repairs were very good, and one could never tell without VERY close inspection that it had been damaged, and it drives perfectly.

Anyway... another Barney.

I like the Quattro in front. I remember the owner of this 993Turbo from Rennlist.

Yeah... the Quattros... will be faster than either P-turbo, I'm afraid ;-)

S&R, do you still spend time in the Springs? There needs to be a CO get together...

lol Dave - many of the 'Palooza-ers got a chuckle @ my current bit in ECMag about the 10.7sec Coupe Quattro, which will likely be seeing 9's this season... as compared to say Eddie Bello's efforts (amazing!).

The yukks exist within the concept that Audi is driven year round in the snow etc., has a full interior, is still a pig @ 3300+lbs, and with the entire build costing as much as a basic 930 engine rebuild 8-).

Gotta love q's...

sorry, back to PurplePeopleEaters!
